Scope: The studio scenario is based on an anti-gun violence program developed by the city called the Mobile Trauma Unit. The MTU was created as an alternative to police with the goal of de-escalating violent situations. However, the majority of their time is put towards building familiarity and trust in the community while offering resources and services throughout their route through stops that last around 15-20 mins. The students were tasked with creating programming through the Mobile Trauma Unit to cater to a particular need in the community and create more innovative strategies for outreach and engagement.

Scope: This studio is about the intersection of Affordable Housing the Solar Decathlon Competition. The students have been learning about the challenges of acquiring housing that is affordable and sustainable. We have defined sustainable more broadly than usual, to encompass the economic ability of homeowners to maintain their homes, and therefore remain viable, so that they can sustain their communities and by extension to the broad community of the entire ecosystem of the planet. Our site is in Mattapan and Boston, while studying precedents of social housing and solar decathlon buildings. - Prof. NJ Unaka

Summer Intensives in Art and Design offers high school students serious about fine art and design a choice of focused studios to help develop technical skills and build studio practice. Studio choices are available in both fine art and design, including a number of all day design and media focused studios. Students have an opportunity to develop work for their portfolio.
The nature of this program is that of a rigorous art school. Students complete homework assignments and engage in individual and group critiques. The program meets Monday through Friday for two weeks. Students can attend morning or afternoon studios, attend two different studios for the week choosing a morning and afternoon studio, or attend a full day studio. For students attending full days, lunch is taken independently. Residential options are also available.
Creative Studios is for students in Grades 7-9 of all abilities who have a desire to expand their knowledge in the visual arts. It is a fun but rigorous program for young artists to develop their creative voice and skills in disciplines they love, including painting, sculpture, fashion, architecture, computer animation, and more.
Through daily art classes, visits to nearby museums and studios, and meetings with visiting artists, students learn about making a connection between their own artwork and the world around them.
